We designed these rods to pull salmon and steelhead plugs like the INFAMOUS Hot Shot (hence the name), and that's still their #1 use. But you'll see anglers casting them for silvers, trolling them for big Kings or drifting bait with them for steelhead. The rods have light to medium tips and magnum-power butt sections, which make them EXCEllENT casting tools and even better fish-fighting tools. If you're unfamiliar, the Hot Shot technique goes something like this... the angler positions his boat at the head of a run and allows the current to pull the plug down to the fish zone. The boat then sweeps across the current so the plug covers the entire width of the river (lure action is then monitored by watching the wiggle of the rod tip). When a fish hits, the magnum butt section actually sets the hook for you. The boat operator keeps tension on the fish until the angler can grab the rod from the holder. An extremely EFFECTIVE technique and a very versatile rod. like its casting cousin, this rod was originally designed to back-troll small plugs for steelhead or silver salmon. But because of its light tip, and powerful butt, it has quickly emerged as the rod of choice for serious walleye anglers fishing spinner/worm rigs. Saltwater flats fishermen also like the light tip for casting soft plastics, jigs or bait to cruising redfish and specks. A surprisingly powerful magnum-tapered spinning rod that offers a lot of versatility. It's a great choice for steelhead and salmon in the rivers of the Northwest and the Great lakes or for fishing saltwater flats and bays. It's a great walleye rod for any number of applications. You can fish bait, spinners and spoons with this rod and it will handle extremely large fish. Gl2 makes it very strong and durable. A great all around spinning rod!

A real bass fisherman never, but never, admitted using a spinning rod, unless it was for panfish, and even then it was iffy. But times are CHANGING and so are techniques. First out of the closet were the die-hard smallmouth anglers. They favored the spinning rod because they used lighter line and smaller lures to fool those super cautious brown bass. Then, as finesse fishing came into play, more and more anglers found the spinning rod to be the PERFECT SOlUTION for the clear water lakes where spotted bass and smallmouths abound. The only negative was nobody ever really offered the nice, fast-action rods that the casting crowd enjoyed. That was until we introduced the Spin Jig Series. It's the unique blend of DYNAMIC tapers and super-sensitive materials that helped make these the rod of choice for serious light line anglers. Grubs, small worms, hair jigs, split shot rigs, "mojo" rigs... you name it, the spin jig rod is a great option. One of our most versatile warmwater spinning rods, the 782 has a fast taper for a more positive hook set and greater casting distance. The extra length provides better line and lure control, especially in deep water, where slack line may cost you a fish. A good choice for fishing minnow baits like the long-A and Rapala, and the preferred rod for split-shotting worms and grubs. If your preference for bass is spin over cast, this is a good-no, make that great rod. This is one of our most versatile warm-water spinning rods. It has a fast taper which gives you a positive hook-set and the extra length provides positive line and lure control in deep water. It' s a nice rod for fishing jerk-baits and for "split shotting" small lizards and worms. It's a good alternative for baits you'd normally fish on a casting rod and it will handle all the light saltwater flats species. Gl3 gives you excellent performance at a moderate price.
