We designed these rods to pull salmon and steelhead plugs like the INFAMOUS Hot Shot (hence the name), and that's still their #1 use. But you'll see anglers casting them for silvers, trolling them for big Kings or drifting bait with them for steelhead. The rods have light to medium tips and magnum-power butt sections, which make them EXCEllENT casting tools and even better fish-fighting tools. If you're unfamiliar, the Hot Shot technique goes something like this... the angler positions his boat at the head of a run and allows the current to pull the plug down to the fish zone. The boat then sweeps across the current so the plug covers the entire width of the river (lure action is then monitored by watching the wiggle of the rod tip). When a fish hits, the magnum butt section actually sets the hook for you. The boat operator keeps tension on the fish until the angler can grab the rod from the holder. An extremely EFFECTIVE technique and a very versatile rod. Designed specifically for back-trolling plugs or drift-fishing for king salmon, this is also an excellent big river steelhead rod. The fast taper and powerful, magnum butt make it a favorite among silver salmon anglers. It has a long rear cork grip for extra leverage and lots of power. A powerful, two-piece casting rod designed specifically for back-trolling plugs like Hot Shots and Wiggle Warts. The extra-fast taper and the powerful, magnum butt-section make it a favorite among hybrid and striper anglers, both in saltwater estuaries and freshwater "land-locked" striper fisheries. It has a long rear cork grip for extra leverage and a lot of power. IMX graphite makes it extremely light and really sensitive. A 'must have' for drift fishing big kings in Alaska!

An absolutely great all-around surf spinning rod. At 11-feet, this two-piece powerhouse will let you reach out there a country mile with total line, lure and fish-fighting control. This is the perfect rod for big rooster fish, stripers, drum and any other mega-critters that may cruise the coastline. It will handle up to 25-pound monofilament and 30-pound Power Pro and lures ranging up to 3-ounces. Whether you're fishing the Pacific coast of Mexico or the rocky shores of Maine, this is as good as it gets!New for 2010, our IMX SURF rods is a series of extremely powerful, high-modulus, light weight spinning rods designed specifically for the long range casts required to successfully fish the surf. G. loomis has taken their blank technology to an entirely new level of performance with these new rods. They have noticeably smaller diameters that create less air-resistance during the casting stroke. They have faster actions than previous G.loomis surf rods, creating tremendous tip-speed to virtually launch your bait into the next time zone! You' ll discover a reserve power when fighting a fish that just isn' t available in any other surf rod.Talk about distance! It takes a special dynamic in a rod to reach those fish beyond normal casting range and then, in turn, create enough energy to drive the hooks home and bring that fish to the beach. Proprietary manufacturing technologies allow G. loomis to make their blanks with extremely dense laminates, increasing strength, sensitivity and most importantly... recovery-rate. "Recovery-rate" relates to the time it takes the rod, after being flexed (loaded) and cast (unloaded), to dampen and return to a straight position. This is paramount for distance because as a rod dampens, it wobbles. As line passes through the guides, this "wobble" creates line slap (friction) that reduces line-speed significantly. The faster a rod can recover, the less it wobbles, reducing the friction, and increasing casting distance. It'

We believe the two most important factors in a steelhead rod are line control and SENSITIVITY. No matter where you fish or which technique you choose, there's a steelhead rod that offers you maximum CONTROl. If you fish small coastal streams, you can get by with a shorter rod. If, on the other hand, you frequent big, wide rivers, longer rods are definitely the way to go (for a variety of reasons, including optimum line angle, river drag and sensitivity). As for sensitivity, it doesn't matter whether you plunk, drift-fish from shore, or use a boat: knowing what's going on at the end of your line is absolutely crucial for successful steelheading. These fish may be big, but for the most part their bite is incredibly subtle. That's why we DESIGN these rods with a fairly soft tip and the most sensitive materials possible. Select the rod that matches your angling situation and be sure to give careful consideration to the different levels of graphite performance available. A dynamic of light-duty and ultra-light freshwater spinning rods. We designed them primarily for panfish, but they satisfy a variety of different APPlICATIONS like small in-line spinners for bass; darts and light jigs for shad; spinners for trout; small bait for bonefish; and even spoons for sea trout. Now, don't get us wrong... they aren't like our spin jig rods. They are more of a lIGHT-DUTY all-around spinning rod with relatively soft butt-sections and light tips. None are rated for over 10-pound line and most are in the 4- to 6- pound test range. If you're fishing in tight quaters or really small creeks, we'd suggest the shorter models, but if you frequent larger streams or ponds and lakes, we'd reccommend the longer rods because they protect light line better and give you increased casting DISTANCE and a longer, more effective hook set. Our best selling ultra-light spinning rod. The 6010 is a sweetheart of a crappie rod, and it'll be your best friend on a little trout stream. It's as tough an ultra-light as we make, and will handle almost any oversized surprise. An ultra soft, moderate action protects the lightest monofilament. A backpacker's dream rod for small streams and lakes, this is an exact duplicate of our most popular ultra-light rod, the 6010, but in a two-piece configuration. What's more, it comes in a very nice soft rod sock for added protection. This is the two-piece version of one of our best selling ultra-light spinning rods. It's a super-soft, yet surprisingly powerful Gl spinning rod designed to throw small tube jigs and soft plastic grubs. It' s as tough an ultra-light as we make. It has a Fuji fixed reel seat with cork mid-body, cork grips and Fuji single-foot guides.

From Minnesota to Maine, Michigan, Tennessee, to the Columbia River of the Pacific Northwest, one thing remains true. "Brown bass" are harder to find, to figure out, harder to fool and harder to catch than any bass that swims. They'll test your temper, your patience, and your tackle to the very limits! We spent a few years with and picking the brains of literally hundreds of anglers that target these fish in several locations around the country. You'll appreciate the results; our Bronzeback Series with 15 different models covering every technique for every piece of water where you'll encounter smallmouths. Whether you drag lizards, tube baits, grubs or jigs, toss crankbaits, jerkbaitsand spinners, or just love the challenge of catching a huge smallie on spider-thin monofillament, these rods will leave you pleasantly surprised. Our BronzeBack Series rods are designed with quick responsive tips, allowing you to detect even the lightest nips and picks. the lower and mid sections are dynamically powerful, giving you total control when fighting even the largest fish. The casting rods feature "Mag-touch" blank-thru-handle construction for a better feel. Our spinning rods have our special reversed reel seat with a short fore-cork, so you can put your finger on the blank if you're so inclined. All are finished in a beautiful BronzeBack brown that is only matched by the fish itself. Fishing the "float & fly" is a very specialized technique for catching suspended smallies along deep-water ledges and cliffs. It takes a long, relatively light rod to handle the line and float. The light tip is designed to protect whisper-thin monofilament and cast really small hair jigs, the secret to this finesse approach. The extra length allows a positive hook-set with a long sweep of the rod. This rod is designed for "float & fly" fishing. It' s an almost vertical technique for catching big smallies on really steep banks and cliff faces wher
